All,
I now have a date for moving my father. He is going to be moving to his new home on Sunday February 15th. I know that this is going to be rough for him, but it is for the best. I am excited that he will finally get the help he needs and hopefully this will help him from getting any worse for a while. There is good chance that this move will help to slow the dementia for a little while. He will no longer have his home phone number so you will have to call his cell, which if he has called you in the last 6 months it has probably been on the cell. Once he gets settled in to the new place I will post some pictures and let you know how he is handling the change. As always if you have questions, comments or concerns please feel free to post them here in the comments section.

Allen, I can't find a comment I just made--so here we go again. Sonny's demeanor is normal for a life-long, independent guy. He will adjust to reality soon enough. That doesn't mean there won't be more pain. I feel for him. Unless I missed it, I haven't seen where you responded to my suggestion of a ham radio receiver for him. Perhaps more practical for the constraints of assisted living, if he will have internet assess on his own PC, we can set up "Echo-link" and he can talk with hams around the world without antennas, wires or cable. He had that at home in addition to his transmitting station. See if some of his ham buddies up there can do it for him, or I will come up myself. Oh, congrats on the new job, by the way. If you later see a similar comment from me, dismiss it a feeble attempt from a guy not checked out yet on blogs. Finally, on a day that you are off, it would be a good thing for Sonny if you and I could coordinate lunch and I'd bring the fellows along. Shannon, really a sweetheart, asks about him frequently. Best wishes, Frank

allen, had a great phone conversation with sonny yesterday (3/1). you would think there wasn't a thing wrong. his sense of humor was in tact and he was waiting for the cable representative to arrive. i could tell his memory has declined quite a bit, but we know that's just part of it. i think raye had a great idea about a photo album for him to look at. i'll bring some of my old, old, old pictures and try to work on that during my visit. are his personal photographs at his new home? i hope his friends are visiting him. you might want to mention that in your next blog update. can't wait to see you at the end of this month! jerri lynn
